Aditi Bhagwat

Internationally renowned Kathak and Lavani expert, Aditi Bhagwat dons many hats - dancer, teacher, and an extraordinary artist. Aditi inherited a keen sense of rhythm from her mother Smt. Ragini Bhagwat, who is a trained classical singer. She carried forward the legacy by starting to learn Indian classical dance in Jaipur style of Kathak at the tender age of 4 years. After years of rigorous training, Aditi is an ‘A’ graded artist of the Doordarshan Kendra, impaneled with the Indian Council of Cultural Relations. 

She has also received the title of ‘Nalanda Nritya Nipun’ from the Nalanda Dance and Research Academy, Mumbai. With a strong foothold in Kathak, Aditi has experimented with the traditions of Jazz and world music. Her first collaborative ventures were with Jazz maestro Louiz Banks, percussionist Sivamani, and music composer Merlin D’souza from India. 

However, her talent knows no geographical bounds, as she did her international collaborations with pianist Bela Szakcsi Lakatos (Indo-Gypsy Jazz project, Budapest Spring Festival), and New York-based pianist Rod Williams (The Issue Project), to name a few.

She is known to gracefully blend the stylized gestures of Kathak and the sophisticated rhythm of the Tatkaar, Chakkradhars, and different Taals with instruments like the djembe, drums, ghumbri, sarod, sitar, and many more. 

Aditi is an exceptional artist with an innate sense of rhythm. Each time she graces the stage, she leaves the audience mesmerized with her stellar performance.
